First test with boost

The finished air box and the dump valve. The blue hose goes to a temporary boost meter.

And the first driving impressions?

Very promising ......

I had positive manifold pressure from 1000 rpm. BIG improvement in low end torque. Pulls a harder at part throttle at 2000 rpm. No codes set by ECM. Had over 3psi boost, but I did not rev it very hard. I need a LOT more fuel. I am still using the stock fuel pump. I must change to my new 92 pump now and add an progressive fuel pressure regulator. I did not hear any knock, but the engine stumbles when I rev past 3000 rpm. My guess is that the stock fuel pump just can not keep the pressure up over the injector. The regulator tries to keep the fuel pressure constant over the pressure in the air box. Air box pressure is definetly higher than the manifold pressure and I had that up to 3.5 psi boost. If fuel pressure is set at 12 psi and I have 5 psi boost in the air box, then the pump must deliver the flow at 17 psi to keep the differential pressure over the injector constant .....
